Find a good hotel in Bordeaux

The blog is not only meant for people living in Bordeaux, but also for visitors who want to explore this city. That is why I recently put myself in the shoes of a tourist to discover a good hotel downtown Bordeaux : Hotel Bayonne Etche-Ona, 4-star Best Western Premier, located in the heart of the city, also called the Golden Triangle. When I travel and look for accomodation, these are my top 3 criterias: location, comfortable rooms and the quality of breakfast. If the hotel meets these 3 expectations, then I am ready to pay the price!

The location of Bayonne Etche-Ona is just perfect. The hotel is divided into two 18th century buildings, both located at a hundred meters of Place de la Comedie and at a 30-second walk from Cours de l’Intendance, by the tram B station. Therefore, it is very easy to discover the city on foot!

Among the closest must sees: Grand Theatre, Quinconces square, Girondins Monument, the Grands Hommes district, place de la Bourse and the Water Mirror. For a crazy shopping session, just head to Sainte Catherine street. If you are looking for restaurants, you will have a tremendous choice.

Criteria number 1, central location : check!

Comfort

The hotel is located in the heart of the city, yet offering tranquility. The rooms are absolutely calm!

Plus, the two buildings have just been renovated! No more old beds and outdated decoration. Hotel Bayonne Etche-Ona changed its look for an awesome result. I must say that the Manager who is passionate about decoration strives for excellence. She chose the best products from bedsprings and curtains to taps and reversible air-conditioning.

Whether you choose a classic room or a suite, each of them provides a flat-screen TV, a Nespresso coffee machine, beauty products from Rituals brand and bathrobes. Soon, guests will be welcomed with a small seasonal gift in their rooms.

I was impressed by the cleanliness of the bathrooms (made in marble and resin or chrome stainless steel). No hard water residues, nor a speck of dust… That is quite unusual to be mentionned!

As to decoration, it is moslty about natural and shimmering colors, beautiful textiles and geometrical shapes.

However, a special mention goes to the beds! WOW!!! I have rarely slept in such a comfortable and spacious bed. I even asked the receptionist for the brand of that incredibly soft memory foam mattress. I have since dreamt of affording such a pleasant bed.

A word about staff: very professional, welcoming, smiling and available. If you need information about the city, staff will be happy to share their tips and help you find a good restaurant.

Among the details that matter, the hotel provides a fitness room (free and for hotel guests only) and a conference room (on hire).

Criteria number 2, comfort: check!

Breakfast

Last but not least: the quality of breakfast. Usually, I only have a cup of tea and some bread at home, but on vacation I like to enjoy a big breakfast, with a large choice of products both salty and sweet. I have to admit that the 4-star breakfast at Bayonne Etche Ona met all my expectations! The buffet offers so much tasty food that it is perfect for brunch. No need to have lunch afterwards.

Among the sweet products: viennoiserie made on-the-spot, fresh fruit juices, bread from a local bakery, seasonal fruits, Georgelin compotes and jam, delicious crepes, etc. As to the salty products: eggs (scrambled, omelet, boiled, fried), sausage, cheese, charcuterie, smoked salmon…

I told you that it is perfect for brunch!

Last criteria check, not once but twice!

Prime location, very comfortable rooms, adorable service and amazing breakfast. As you can guess, Hotel Bayonne Etche Ona is the perfect spot to stay downtown Bordeaux.
